The sacred red prawns, known locally as Ura-Buta ('cooked prawns') due to their colour, are only found in two places in Fiji, one of them being Naweni village near Savusavu. During the tour, you will learn about the legends attached to the red prawns and the village superstitions that protect them.
It is around a mile walking along a deserted sandy beach from Naweni village to the island where the prawns are found. Once at the island, a short climb up to the top of a rock where you can watch the brightly coloured Ura-Buta in the water below and take in the peaceful atmosphere of the place.
